Hutchinson says Slough Town should have taken more than a point from Weymouth

Dom Hutchinson was quick to echo the thoughts of Scott Davies following Slough Town’s stalemate with Weymouth on Saturday and said the Rebels should have emerged victorious due to the plethora of chances they had.

Hutchinson, signed on loan from National League outfit Wealdstone, was one of the Rebels’ best players in their 0-0 draw with Bobby Wilkinson’s Terras at the weekend. In the first half, the forward provided plenty of opportunities for George Alexander to score, while in the second half, he had a few chances to net himself.

Having not played in Slough Town’s recent FA Cup clashes with Salisbury, Hutchinson could have come into the game against Weymouth somewhat rusty, but he shrewdly navigated 82 minutes of football before being brought off for David Ogbonna.

“I thought I was solid today. I could have had a couple of assists, I put a few boys through, and I snatched at a few things in the final third in the second half,” he reflected to the Advertiser at full-time.

“It seemed like they had a man marking all me all game so it was a challenge to get forward, but I thought I did well.

“It was disappointing to finish the day with a draw. We were the better side and, on another day, we could have won by one, two, or three. We don’t really feel like Weymouth tested us or tested Rohan (Luthra) at all.

“We are frustrated with a point but then again, we’ve now gone seven games unbeaten. We will take this momentum into the next game.”

It is unlikely that Hutchinson, or Alexander, will feature for Slough Town in their forthcoming fixture as they travel to Stonebridge Road to face Ebbsfleet United in the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup.

“I want to play as many games as I can, I never want to miss out. Hopefully I can play next week in the FA Cup but we will have to see how it goes, Scott will probably ask,” said Hutchinson.

“Playing today after not doing so in the recent games against Salisbury, I thought I might be a bit rusty, but I started sharp and got a good amount of minutes.

“I am really loving it here. Scotty is an amazing gaffer and player. All the boys are brilliant to be around, the facilities are very good, we always get nice food after the game too. I am really enjoying my time here.”
