TSI World Bees netminder Brython Preece saved an incredible 41 shots as his side won 5-1 on the road at Raiders on Friday evening.

However, Dominik Gabaj’s team weren’t quite able to make it a four-point weekend as they suffered an overtime loss to the Solway Sharks at the Slough Ice Arena on Sunday.

A day’s rest would have been welcomed by the Bees in Sunday’s clash; however, they produced a sluggish display on home ice and they trailed 3-1 coming off after the first period.

Kieran Hair gave the visiting side the lead after only 22 seconds, with the assists going to Craig Peacock and Olivier Arseneau. While only 7.10 was on the clock when Hair struck again, assisted this time by Peacock and John Dunbar. The Bees tried to regroup and get themselves back in contention, however, they were rocked once again when Nolan Gardiner scored to make it 3-0 after 8.39.

However, the cycle of unanswered goal was finally ended after 10.07 when Dan Rose netted the Bees’ first of the evening after a neutral zone face-off win. The Sharks managed to kill off a two-minute sin-bin following a tripping offence by Lewis Young early in the second period and once back up to full strength they restored their three-goal advantage when Dunbar found the net.

The Bees had a goal chalked off for a high stick towards the end of the second period, however, with one second left on Scott Henderson’s penalty for the Sharks, Marcel Balaz blasted the puck into the back of Hepburn’s net to make it a two-goal game once again with the assists awarded to Josh Smith and Gabaj.

Captain Stuart Mogg fired home the hosts’ third on 53.24 to make it 4-3 and, with only 54 seconds left, Balaz grabbed his second of the game to take the match into overtime. The Bees created chances for Gabaj and Balaz early on, but on 62.25, Ryan Webb was sinbinned for a slashing offence and Sharks took full advantage of their extra man with Craig Peacock netting the overtime winner.

Next up for the Bees is a trip to play Leeds Knights on Saturday before they welcome Hull Seahawks to the Slough Ice Arena on Sunday.
