In the public notices this week, a tea shop in Cookham High Street is looking for permission to make an extension, while there are plans for alterations to buildings and land in conservation areas. There are also a number of road closures.

H&H Property Partnership is looking for consent for an extension to the ground floor cafe, with internal alterations at Teapot Tea Shop and the flat above Clieve Cottages.

The property is Grade II listed, falls within the Cookham Village Conservation Area and lies within the floodplain.

The proposals involve the construction of a two-storey rear extension to provide an enlarged café kitchen at ground floor level and a kitchen/dining space to the first floor flat.

It involves the removal and demolition of the existing WC to create additional café seating. The existing kitchen space will be remodelled.

Applicants also seek to provide a fully wheelchair accessible WC. To the rear, part of the existing patio area is to be removed to allow for the building of the extension.

The street frontage is to remain unchanged and the proposal does not require any cutting back or removal of any existing trees.

The proposed extension has been designed to be ‘subservient’ to the original building, with the proposed ridge being set 1m lower than the host building.

The internal layout of the café has been designed to maximise useable space and its overall efficiency, say the applicant’s representatives, Bowen Evans.

Meanwhile, in Castle Hill, changes are proposed at Hanson House, affecting the setting of a listed building, as well as the character of a conservation area.

The applicant is looking for permission for a replacement of the existing stone archway, among a raft of other changes, such as replacement doors and gates, and new solar panels.

See all plans at 23/02124/FULL.

Lastly, also in Cookham, applicants are looking to put in a new tractor garage, welfare unit and manure composter at land south of Holly Lodge in Hills Lane.

This will also affect the appearance of a conservation area. See at reference 23/02133/FULL.
