Two new ‘picturesque’ running races are set to launch in Cookham this weekend.

The Rotary Club of Cookham Bridge, who jointly manage Cookham Regatta at Marsh Meadow and Cock Marsh, decided to utilise the ‘favourable’ riverside location to launch a new running event.

The Cookham Run aims to offer runners of all levels, a ‘distinctive race experience’ set in an area of outstanding natural beauty.

A spokesperson said the Regatta’s annual Dragon Boat racing event features several participants from running clubs in the area who have spoken ‘favourably’ about the riverside location.

The Rotary Club decided to take advantage of ‘the picturesque off-road site’, courtesy of the National Trust and Copas Farms, to inaugurate 10K and 5K runs this weekend.

Proceeds from the Cookham Run will benefit St Mark’s Hospital Foundation, Prostate Cancer UK and the Rotary Club of Cookham Bridge.

The races will take place on Saturday, October 21 with the 10K starting at 9.30am and the 5k kicking off at 11.30am.

A range of prizes are up for grabs for individuals and teams, as well as completion medals and certificates for all participants.

Entry will be possible on the day with participants advised to arrive up to an hour before their respective race time to allow for registration, warm up and preparation. Free on-site parking is available.
