Young soloists showcase talents in Hurley music festival preview

Four young musicians showcased their talents at an inaugural concert hosted at Hurley Parish Church this month.

由乔纳森Miall Burchett Green parish vicar reverend Tom Etherton, the concert was a precursor to the Hurley Music and Arts Festival taking place in the village next spring.

The 2024 spring programme will include music concerts, jazz, folk groups, a spoken word event and talented classical stars.

An audience of nearly 100 people attended the much-awaited Young Soloists Concert on Saturday, October 7.

The hour-long event saw the four performers showcase a range of pieces for the violin, flute, piano and voice.

The first performer was flautist, Daisy Harrison, followed by pianist Yash Singh and soprano Elisabeth Cullen, all A-Level students.

最后国家儿童Orches表演者tra violinist Elena Tomey who was accompanied by Nigel Wilkinson, organist at St John’s Church in Littlewick Green.

Elena is a member of the National Children’s Orchestra, and previously won the Berkshire Young Musician of the Year award.

Reviewer Julian Stanford said: “The acoustics in St Mary the Virgin Church were wonderful and this concert, put on by Music and Arts Hurley as a taster for the full festival in the village next May, was of a very high standard.”
