Windsor man jailed for 8 months after assaulting ex-partner

A 49-year-old man will serve eight months behind bars for assaulting his former partner in Windsor.

Galice Beldom attacked his then partner, a woman in her forties, at his address in Church Street, causing serious injuries to her face and stomach at around 2.30am on March 31.

The victim managed to escape the property and fled on foot, flagging down a milkman in the town centre for help.

Beldom was arrested the same day and charged the following day (April 1).

He was sentenced to eight months in prison at Reading Crown Court on Thursday (October 26).

He pleaded guilty to one count of Section 20 inflicting grievous bodily harm at the same court on August 25.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Annie Blair, of the Domestic Abuse Investigation Unit, based at Windsor police station, said: “I would like to thank the victim for her bravery and support for this investigation.

“I hope this result shows victims and perpetrators of domestic violence that the police will take all reports of violence against women and girls seriously, and will do all we can to bring offenders like Galice Beldom before the courts to face justice.”
