Maidenhead Town Show is set to take over the High Street at the weekend – this year in memory of its late founder Deborah Jones.

Organised annually by Craft Coop, the Maidenhead Town Show will be at Nicholsons Centre on Saturday (October 21).

Celebrating local creativity of all sorts, the show brings elements of a typical country show to the town centre, while raising funds for children’s charities. I

It is volunteer-led, free and family-focussed – with more than 30 stalls and street vendors, plus a well-funded raffle and the very popular Dog Show at 2pm.

The show is also well known for its wealth of competitions, including baking, photography, arts and crafts.

The event will be opened by the Royal Borough’s Deputy Mayor, Councillor Simon Bond, along with the Town Crier at 10am.

This year’s live performance list is ‘even better than ever’, featuring local musicians and dance schools.

There will be street entertainers and mascots – appearances from Percy Pig and a unicorn princess, who will also be running a craft session for children.

The ‘very popular’ Michelle Johnson, professional craft demonstrator, will be running three adult craft sessions too.

The show is growing in popularity, said one of the event organisers, Anne Briggs.

“We can't wait to make The Maidenhead Show 2023 the best it has ever been and attract even more people, building a sense of pride in our town,” she said.

“Last year, it was one of the busiest days in Maidenhead and we love the vibrancy and sense of community that it creates.”

There is still time for budding bakers, makers, knitters, stitchers and foodie fans to enter the Town Show competitions.

This year, event organisers have revamped the categories of the competitions to broaden their appeal.

There are a variety of competition classes, all detailed on the website so get creative juices flowing and get ready.

The winner of Best in Show will receive a special award in memory of Deborah Jones, the former director of Craft Coop, who founded the show.

Anyone interested should bring completed entry forms and entry fees (50p for children / £1 for adults) to the Craft Coop shop, near Café Nero) in the Nicholsons Centre, on the day of the town show by 10.30am latest.

Judging will take place between 11am-12pm.

The Town Show will raise funds for Family Friends RBWM and Great Ormond Street Hospital as part of One Great Day.

It is sponsored by Louis Baylis Charitable Trust, Sorbon Estates, Shanly Homes, Oakwood Estates and Craft Coop CIC.
