Sing4You to hold fundraiser for Thames Hospice

Burnham’s Sing4You choir will hold its first charity concert since the Covid pandemic this Sunday, October8, in aid of Thames Hospice.

'Sing4Charity' will feature popular songs through the decades sung by a 45-strong choir. They will take to the stage alongside other local performers in the afternoon’s fundraiser.

Tickets cost £10 each with all funds going directly to Thames Hospice.

Sing4You’s Musical Director David Kemp, of DK Productions, said that he put the choice of charity out for vote among the 86 members of the company.

“Thames Hospice meant a lot to our members and we’re really pleased to be singing for them.

“It’s a chance to share music and get people involved. We’re being joined by an acoustic duo from Burnham called Vandy, and also the Redundant Executives.”

David said that the despite being at Burnham Park Hall, where the choir rehearses weekly, the nerves are setting in.

“We gig quite regularly and performed for the King’s Coronation on the Long Walk in front of thousands of people but this is different, it’s quite intimate, quite personal.

“And we usually perform our set for half an hour, whether its pop or Christmas carols, but this is across a couple of hours (including the other acts as well).

“We’re also challenging ourselves by coming up with as much content as possible. We’re doing a brand new Bohemian Rhapsody medley.”

David said that the Burnham businesses have been really supportive of Sing4Charity, donating raffle prizes, including an iPad.

Sing4You was established in 2019 as a community choir which anyone can join. They regularly perform at charity and community events and will go from this charity concert straight into Christmas rehearsals.

“We’re already thinking about our Christmas set,” said David. “And we’ve six gigs already booked including the switching on of the Christmas lights in Maidenhead.”
